Matt Daniels MaskOptix Diving Eyeglasses Review

My name is Matt Daniels and I was asked to beta test the new MaskOptix eyewear.

Matt Daniels prepares for a dark dive, where Maskoptix will cut the glare and backscatter

I am a professional engineering inspection diver, specializing in condition assessments of piers, wharves, and other waterfront or bridge structures. I received my MarkOptix glasses, and the prescription was perfect. Although I did not wear the glasses daily, they were comfortable under my helmet once I learned how to position them correctly. The fit was easier after some adjustments, I was able to wear both the hat and the glasses comfortably.

Wearing prescription glasses underwater made it significantly easier for me to read the ruler, where measurements are often taken in 1/8-inch increments, as well as to read the digital readouts from the UTG, GP gun, and wrist computer.

MaskOptix safe and secure during transport in a waterproof case

I was impressed by the "wow" factor of these glasses; they did not fog during use. I often needed to vent my hat to clear the helmet faceplate, but the glasses remained clear. The packaging included a waterproof box and an anti-fog towelette, which made on-deck care and maintenance very easy. I also enjoyed the benefits of the Transition Grey tint and filter. The tint on the transition lenses was a great bonus, especially when transitioning from the water to the sunny boat deck. This feature is something I would definitely recommend.

Big Smiles, While wearing MaskOptix

Overall I enjoyed using the MaskOptix prescription glasses and saw improvements under the water.
