Karun: Most Sustainable Eyewear Brand Made To Last

I was thrilled when I learned about this brand. "Karün" means "to be nature" in the Mapuche language, an ancestral Indigenous culture from Chile. The brand reflects on the possibility of living in harmony with ourselves and our natural environment.

History:
The first eyewear was handcrafted in 2012 from fallen trees in Patagonia, positioning Karun as the pioneer in creating sunglasses from wood. In 2013, they received certification as a B Corp. Exciting times came in 2018 when the first colorful collection was introduced, made possible using Econyl, a one-of-a-kind recycled plastic made from fishing nets. In 2020, Karun partnered with Nat Geo, developing the ultimate adventure eyewear inspired by a shared love for exploration and never-ending stories to inspire.

Materials:
All their products are made with natural, noble, and/or recycled materials and are built to ensure resistance and longevity. The material lists include fishing nets, metals, recycled polycarbonate, cotton & reclaimed leather, recycled cardboard, and recycled leather.

Philosophy:
Karun aims to make high-quality eyewear that can serve as a symbol of a different way of looking at the world, made under a very different logic. Instead of the widely used linear and extractive process, they are working hard to build their entire value chain under a circular and regenerative model.

We are excited to partner with Karun and offer a line of eyewear that helps align with the planet. Check out their products here.
